Notes from Ed, Head of School |
|
Welcome and thank you for your interest in Sterne School, a private school for students with learning differences. For many of our students, prior to coming to Sterne, school may have been frustrating, overwhelming, and even negative. At Sterne, we can turn that experience around.
The educational and social experience at Sterne has proven to be one of the most productive and healthy for students who learn differently. Sterne has small classes, engaged and experienced teachers, individualized learning plans for each student, and a supportive parent community. With the confidence and self-esteem students gain during their years at Sterne, it is no surprise that our students move on to two and four year universities - anticipating bright futures.
Sterne has a close-knit community that values and nurtures the relationship among teachers, parents and students--a relationship made possible by the small, intimate class size. Each year we review and improve our curriculum staying current with best practices. We are also accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Our vision for each academic year is clear: we want to bring out the best in each student--academically and socially, as artists, writers, scientists, musicians, and contributing members of the community.
If you are a parent deciding where to continue your child's education during the challenging middle school and high school years, we invite you to explore our website. Get acquainted with our programs and our teachers, and come visit the school to see our mission statement come alive in the spirit and the special atmosphere that characterizes Sterne School. I look forward to meeting you soon.
Best Regards,
Ed McManis Head of School |
